News I About I Past Winners I Committee

The Transvaal Field Trials Association (TFTA) was founded in 1972 and is affliated to the Kennel Union of Southern Africa (KUSA).

The TFTA holds an annual field trial for retrievers and spaniels and if possible a training course towards the end of the year.

The whole purpose of Retriever and Spaniel field trials is to simulate, under competition, conditions which are similar to those encountered in a natural shooting situation. Only too often, birds are shot where no working dogs are present. This results in unnecessary suffering and waste. The reason for training Retrievers and Spaniels is to persuade those people that shoot and hunt, that the only way to hunt is with a trained dog.
